Life from Liberia Update

Jason, Corrie and the kids all seemed to have settled into a good routine at the Daniel Hoover Children's Village. They are enjoying the time they can spend getting to know the routine of a normal day at the mission, and they've been able to collect a lot of updated information for the African Child Sponsorship program.

It sounds like it's been good to have extended time as a family of six where they can see the children bonding and also the potential challenges they will face after Hawa and Kelvin come home.

Though he's been doing fine, it does appear that Asher was bitten on the arm by a scorpion about five days ago. It didn't affect how he feels overall, but it has been swollen. They took him to the hospital at ELWA yesterday and got an antibiotic for it.

As an unexpected surprise, the Luebkes have really enjoyed the company of another American family who arrived on Sunday evening after a quickly planned trip. The Luebkes will go to the ACFI guest house towards the end of the week and will have the opportunity to spend their last few days with that family.

Please continue to pray for their last week in Liberia.

Hi Luebkes!

Carter has been wondering how you are doing and when you are coming home! We all miss you very much!

We still have lots of snow and very cold weather here.

You may want to know the outcome of Carter's Grandpa's progress with the knee and minor stroke.

All was going well, until last week Wednesday (Feb 2). Long story short he had another mild stroke which affected his right arm and hand. They determined that Dad needed a stent put in his left carotid artery. So that procedure was done on Tuesday Feb 8. Unfortunately, he had another stroke during that. The MRI confirmed it was a 3rd stroke and a stronger one at that. He basically is back to square one with his speech, and right arm/hand. We are encouraged of his improvement already and his smile has returned with his humbling laughter. He will get through this for his determination is great. He has a big God and wants to do more work for him.

So, I didn't meant to take over this comment and I hope you get this message before you come home. I thought you might like to know a little news from Minnesota.

We are praying earnestly for your family and are not giving up hope that all your kids will come home together!

We love you guys!

Happy Valentines...a little early!
