Home...

We're home. Got in yesterday around 5:30 PM after traveling for almost 30 hours. No chance to shower before we left, so we were sweaty and nasty from the get-go. :) The people in the plane around us probably noticed a pungent smell, but we are now quite used to "ripe-ness."

We are both full of thoughts, but have no idea how to describe or explain all that we have experienced in Liberia. Once we figure some of that out, we will do our best to put some of it onto the page.

Meeting and spending time with our precious children was an incredible gift from the Lord. Saying goodbye was one of the most difficult things either of us has ever faced... yet the Lord held us through it all. He is faithful and good, and worthy of our praise no matter what life brings. I can't even try to explain anything about Kelvin and Hawa yet... there are just too many things that my heart needs needs to take in fully. I will say that they are beautiful and healthy and happy... and it thrilled us each and every time they called us "Mama" and "Papa", which was a lot!

Spending time with the children at the 2 (orphanage) homes was amazing. Their affection towards us every moment of every day, their desire for someone just to remember their names, their smiles and songs... we will never be the same. The deaf home was a unique and beautiful experience and we are forever captured by the children we got to interact with. We are blown away by the need, but also by the joy and sweetness that we witnessed.

Our team was incredible. Each and every one had an amazing gifting to be in Liberia for such a time as this, and it was a privilege to work beside them each day as we interacted with the children at both homes. I know that the friendships we have gained through this trip will remain sweet to us as time goes by. I miss them already.

I want you to know that the Lord heard your prayers for us. I have to look back through the requests I had, but I think that every single one of them was answered. That's the kind of incredible God we serve. Thank you for your faithfulness to pray. Thank you for being a hugely important part in what the Lord did in Liberia, and in our hearts.

More to come.

What a beautiful description of your time in Liberia! It was a joy and a privilege to pray for you and Jason and Kelvin and Hawa. Thank you for taking our presents to our children, Sayfou and Matterline!
